    Obituary Notice

    Deceased Name:  Martin H. Luepke

    City & State of Residence:  Clear Lake, Fremont, IN  (Formerly of Fort Wayne, IN)

    Age: 94

    Date of Death:  Was called to his eternal glory on March 10, 2010 (Wed.)

    Place of Death: Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, FL

                                                                            

    Date of Birth:         February 6, 1916                  Place Of Birth: Uniontown, Missouri               

     

    Parent’s Names: Martin was born February 6, 1916, in Uniontown, Missouri, one of five children born to Louis and Magdalena (Hueschen) Luepke.  Martin became a child of God through the waters of Holy Baptism.

     

    Marriage:  Martin married the love of his life Marceal Pauline (Gerke) on June 22, 1940 in Fort Wayne, IN., and their marriage was blessed with two children, Janice and Donald.

     

    Employment: Retired career firefighter and proudly served as Fire Chief of the Fort Wayne Fire Department until his retirement in 1967. He and his wife Marceal then built their dream home at Clear lake, Fremont, Indiana.  He then continued his life of service as Safety Director at Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne, for 11 years.

     

    Memberships & History:  The Luepke family moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Martin spent his youth and adult life in Ft. Wayne, retiring to Clear lake (Fremont).  Martin graduated from Concordia Lutheran Grade School and South Side High School.  Martin enjoyed traveling, fishing, holiday cookouts at the lakefront and taking his grandchildren for tractor rides and ice cream.  He toiled endlessly in the vegetable garden, became quite proficient at wine-making, and continued to serve his community as Town Board chairman, and was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, Fremont, Indiana, and served the church on just about every board and committee available.  Martin and Marceal enjoyed their winters in Fort Myers, Florida, and Martin was able to make one last trip this past winter.                                    

    Survivors:  Wife:  Marceal P. Luepke –Clear Lake, Fremont, IN

                    Daughter:  Janice and Tom Nowakowski –Troy, MI

                    Son:  Donald and Ellen Luepke –Clear Lake, Fremont, IN

                    Four Grandchildren:  Leanne, Matthew, Rebecca, and Nathan

                    Six Great-Grandchildren:  Patrick, Miranda, Jessie, Daniel, James, and Danielle

                    Five Step-Grandchildren: Brian, Amy, Joseph, Kathryn, and Coleen

                   11 Step-Great-Grandchildren

                    Sister:  Helen Iben –Portland, OR,    and many Nieces and Nephews          

    Preceded In Death: Parents, Grandson:  Timothy Shough, 2 Brothers , and 1 Sister

    Visitation:  2-6 PM Sunday March 14, 2010 at Beams Funeral Home –Fremont, Indiana

    Also visitation 1 hour prior to services at Church on Monday 3/15/2010  10 am until 11 am)
    Funeral Service: 11 AM Monday March 15, 2010  Peace Lutheran Church

                            355 E. State Road 120, Fremont, Indiana

    Burial: Clear Lake Lutheran CemeteryFremont, IN

    Memorials: Peace Lutheran Church, Concordia Lutheran High School, Worship-For-Shut-Ins 

    Officiating: Rev. Wayne Berkesch and assisted by the Fort Wayne Fire Fighters Union, with Full Fire Department Honor Guards and Committal Services
