  • Donald Edward Roembke

    Donald Edward Roembke, 76, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011 at his home in Angola. He lived most of his life in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He graduated from Central High School in 1953. After graduation he attended Culver Military School and went on to join the Marine Corp in 1954. He returned to Fort Wayne to become a Firefighter at Fire Station #10 and retired a Captain with 21 years of service. He retired as Building Superintendant of the Grand Wayne Center with 16 years of service. He is the past president of the Kekeonga Long Rifle Association. He is the founder of the French and Indian War reenactment group called the Miami Alliance. He is a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Fremont, Indiana, and was responsible for maintenance of the church. He was also a member of the Land of Lakes Lions Club and the recipient of the Melvin Jones Humanitarian award in 2011. Don was the son of Clarence F. and Frances H. Roembke. He is preceded in death by parents, infant brother William, first wife Betty J. (Staub) Roembke, and son John V. Roembke. He leaves behind his wife Anna Marie (Bender) Roembke, sister Maryilynn (Roembke) Motz, sons Louis (Cathy) Roembke, William (Patty) Roembke, Dennis Roembke all of Fort Wayne, daughter, Debra Martin of Fort Wayne, step-son, Kenneth Bender of Fort Wayne, step-daughter, Lillian (Al) Stevens of New Haven, step-daughter, Diana (Hugh) Hogan of Fort Wayne. Grandpa Don had 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. We love you and will always remember your love for us and your Lord Jesus Christ. Service is 11:00 am, Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Peace Lutheran Church in Fremont, 355 E. S.R. 120 with calling one hour prior, Rev. Wayne Berkesch officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road Friday, June 17, 2011 11:00 am - 2:00 pm & 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
