Jackie Byrd Updated On: Jun 16, 2025 Jackie H. Byrd, 87, Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025. Jackie was born in Decatur, Indiana on August 21, 1937, a son of the late Homer and Juanita (Moser) Byrd. He served the city of Fort Wayne as a firefighter for over 32 years. Jack was also a member of Avalon Missionary church for over 61 years. He had a passion for lawn care, he loved taking care of the yard and making sure the landscaping was immaculate. Jack is survived by his wife, Sylvia Byrd; son, Jack (Laurie) Byrd; daughter, Jamie (Keith) Brown; grandchildren, Janelle Byrd, Jack M. (Holly) Byrd, Alexandria (Wade) Smith, and Spencer (Serenity) Brown; great-grandchildren, Adeanna Byrd, Jackson Byrd, Asher Smith, Easton Smith, Avery Smith, and Amira Brown; and sister, Ramona (Dick) Staley. Jack was also preceded in passing by his brother, Donald T. Byrd. Share:
